Biography

Born in Ljubljana, Slovenia, Tea Bajc began her ballet training at the age of ten at the Conservatorium for Music and Ballet Ljubljana. Early in her studies, she collaborated with the National Opera and Ballet Ljubljana in productions of La Bayadère and La Sylphide. During the 2010/2011 season, she attended an international ballet seminar on the island of Vis, Croatia, where she was personally invited by Frederico Olivieri, Director of Accademia Teatro alla Scala, to audition for the prestigious academy. At just twelve years old, she successfully passed the entrance exams and joined Accademia Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Italy, where she was awarded a special scholarship for talented young dancers.​

At fifteen, Tea became the first Slovenian ballet dancer to join the Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera, where she graduated in 2018. During her studies, she performed in productions at the Vienna State Opera, collaborated with the Mariinsky Theatre, and appeared at the Ljubljana Summer Festival.

She was selected to participate in the 60th-anniversary Vienna Opera Ball (2016), choreographed by Vladimir Malakhov, and was invited back for the 2017 edition with choreography by Lukas Gaudernak. Other notable performances include the world-renowned New Year's Concertwith the Vienna Philharmonic in 2017, as well as the prestigious Nureyev Gala at the Vienna State Opera.​

In 2018, Tea made her debut in the Petipa Gala, performing Fleur de Lys in La Esmeralda. That summer, she collaborated with choreographer Claudia Sovre in the neoclassical piece Where Are You?, earning third place at a choreographic competition. After graduating, she joined the Vienna State Opera Ballet's Young Corps de Ballet, performing in Giselle, Sylvia, Coppélia, Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, and Die Fledermaus. She was also a regular performer at the Vienna Parliament’s New Year’s Event and toured with the Volksoper Ballet Company to Finland's Savonlinna Festival.

Since 2020, Tea has been a company member of the Opera and Ballet SNG Maribor, where she expanded her repertoire with productions such as The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Giselle, Peer Gynt, Les Noces, Le Sacre du Printemps, Madame Bovary, Tango, Romeo and Juliet, Don Quixote, Aperture, Faust, Carmina Burana, Cluster, Rain Dogs, Zorba the Greek, and Water Man. Her performances have taken her to prestigious stages across China (Hong Kong Arts Festival), Greece, Hungary, Germany, Italy, Uzbekistan, and Croatia.​

In the summer of 2025, Tea will embark on a new artistic chapter, joining the ballet company of Teatro di Verona for the 102° Arena di Verona Opera Festival, Italy.
